Minutes
q Call Meeting to order. By Mike Wuest, Chair at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Mike Wuest, Chairperson; Susan McConnell, Supervisor; Sydney
Rouse, Supervisor, Kathleen Morris, Treasurer; Marian Mildebrandt,
Clerk
q Pledge of Allegiance said by all in attendance.
Non-agenda – welcome Sydney Rouse to Town Board
- Plaque for Ron Benson for his service on the town board and thank
you letter – clerk will prepare items.
q Approve Minutes of March 13, 2007 meeting. M/S Susan
McConnell/Sydney Rouse to approve. Motion carried. Discussion was held
on presentation of minutes. Clerk will adjust some of the items.
q Financial Report
o Treasurer’s Report - $413,520.35 as of March 31, 2007– M/S Susan
McConnell/Sydney Rouse to accept financial report for March. Motion
carried 3-0
o Checks written through March 31, 2007 - #9572 - #9634 total
$41,424.42 M/S Sue McConnell/ Mike Wuest to accept the checks written
as presented. Motion carried 3.0
q Library Report – Linda DeNell on activities - see reports in book.
National Library week is coming. April 15-21.
q Building Inspector – Jerry Buhrow, Jr. – 4 permits issued this
month, one for the new town hall. Five permits for the year. Checking
his records, building is down. The Board requested reports from Jerry
on what permits are issued. This will be done a monthly basis.
q Fire Commission – Orlo Bierman – Report on monthly meeting with 1st
Responders and Fire Commission. The March meeting reviewed fire dept.
job descriptions. The Commission recommended that the city and town
accept the ownership of the refurbished fire truck, donated to the
fire dept. The Commission is waiting for the title and then will make
an announcement at a later date.
The repair of the pump on a fire truck has been completed. The
company that manufactured the pump will not assume any responsibility
for the failure of the pump, due to the fact that it was out of
warranty.
Discussion on minutes of Fire Commission – Susan McConnell felt that
the minutes should have more descriptive information on what was
discussed at the Commission meetings.
q Clerk request for approval to attend 2 meetings: M/S Sydney
Rouse/Sue McConnell to allow clerk and any board members attend the
meetings. Motion carried 3-0. This would include registration fees
and mileage.
o April 28, 2007 at Wisconsin Rapids – WTA Urban Towns Committee
meeting
o May 10, 200 District Meeting for Clerk – Dale, WI
q Update from Building (Town Hall) Committee - The next meeting is
scheduled for April 19, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. The Committee will be
selecting colors for tile, carpeting, stone; phone and internet
cabling. The silt screen was installed today and corn stalks chopped.
Some equipment was brought in.
q Update from ETJ Committee and Discussion: Ron Triemstra – The
Committee met March 12th at the Library. Discussion on purchase of
Workowski property was held. We also discussed the property search the
Building Committee did and what our needs were for the town and its
residents.
Discussion was held on where the City and Town boundaries should be.
The Town members indicated that any parcels presently developed in the
Town should stay in the Town – tax wise.
Overlaying the land use plans of the city and the town was discussed
as well as the city sewer plant and the City’s expansion plans. Our
attorney, Mark Hazelbaker, knew a lot about what the city is doing,
what their grants are, etc.
Next meeting is at 10:00 a.m. at the Library in Green Lake on April
12. The committee will suggest future meetings to begin at
4:00-4:30. All of our members have jobs and it is hard for them to get
off for meetings during the daytime. Our attorney is from Madison and
it is hard for him to get away also.
q Public Comments: (Note by Mike Wuest: The Attorney General is
allowing the towns to move agenda items around. So, in the future
public comments may be moved to different areas in the agenda.]
Roger Ladwig – how come we don’t have minutes on the website.?
Mike Wuest - The Town Board decided not to post minutes over a year
ago due to problems with people finding them on the web. –We cannot
discuss, as this was not an agenda item, but will put it on a future
agenda.
Bruce Gehbardt –discussion on town hall project and costs.
Joanne LaMire – requested minutes of last 6 months. She would like
to see the minutes on the website. There is no summary of minutes on
website either, or in the paper.
Susan McConnell – indicated she did a couple of months of summaries –
then there was a problem finding them. It was suggested to put the
summary in the GL Reporter and now she has had a heavy work load – and
hasn’t done it for 2 months. – The GL reporter – offered the “local
buzz” as a column, but they had a, word count requirement, so it
hasn’t been done.
Joanne LaMire would like to see financial statement and budget
at the annual meeting.
Bruce Gehbardt – wants to see the public informed.
Roger Ladwig – it’s water over the dam (the town hall).
JoAnne LaMire – the agendas are on Channel 19.
Mike Krause – regarding the chain saw bills from Modern Rental – it’s
a 10 minute job. Anyone can do it.
q Annual Meeting – April 17, 2007 7:00 p.m.
q Next meeting May 8, 2007 7:00 pm

carried. 8:30 p.m.
