E-mail: townofbrooklyn@centurytel.net Web: www.townofbrooklyn.com Minutes q Call Meeting to order By Mike Wuest at 7:00 p.m. Present: Mike Wuest, Chair; Susan McConnell, Supervisor; Sydney Rouse, Supervisor; Kathleen Morris, Treasurer; Marian Mildebrandt, Clerk q Pledge of Allegiance – said by all in attendance q Approve Minutes of December 6, 2007 meeting Correct Item 11 to read “send letter to Betty Rowley for donation of refrigerator”. M/S Rouse/McConnell to approve with corrections, Motion carried 3-0 q Monthly Financial Review: o Treasurer’s Report ---- Clerk’s Report q Assessor report –– Elizabeth Rowley - Has been in contact with Grota regarding future work to be done. q Library Report – Linda DeNell – gave written report – she was excused due to illness. q Building Permit Report – Jerry Buhrow, Jr. – Absent q Fire Commission Report (Including Fire Dept. & 1st Responder Dept.) - Very quiet – nothing new to report. q Update on City Affairs – Sydney Rouse – City Plan commission voted to advance annexation to City Council. Green Lake City Council Meeting will be Jan 14th 7:00 p.m. q Update on County Affairs – Susan McConnell - presented a report on December meeting. q Plan Commission – Report on progress of Comprehensive Plan Revision –Commission last Thursday, went through 60 pages and will go 40 pages at next meeting February 7th at 6:00 p.m. q Suggested items for possible future agendas - 5-man board; constables; rental of hall to groups on regular schedule. q Appearances: none q Public Comments (15 minutes): JoAnn LaMire; October minutes, 5-man board was voted to discuss on Dec. or Jan agenda. – would like to have discussion and not take action. Bill Kinas – vicious dog. Ripon has ordinance. Why doesn’t the town have an ordinance on vicious dogs? Betty Rowley – ABA people have been contacting her about the privately owned homes that are not being annexed. These homes are twice the value of the land being annexed. q Consideration and action on Ordinance #2008-01 Repeal of holding Tank Ordinance. – M/S Rouse/McConnell to accept Ordinance 2008-01 – discussion none; Roll Call: Wuest, Yes; McConnell, Yes; Rouse, Yes. Motion carried 3-0 q Consideration and action on Ordinance #2008-02 Revised Manufactured Home and Recreational Mobile Home Ordinance. M/S McConnell/ Wuest, to adopt Ordinance 2008-02. Discussion – none. Roll Call: Wuest, Yes; McConnell, Yes. Rouse, Yes. Motion carried 3-0 q Consideration and action on Resolution #2008-01 Revised Building Inspection Fee’s M/S McConnell/Rouse; to approve Resolution 2008-01 – Discussion None – Roll Call: Wuest, Yes; McConnell, Yes; Rouse, Yes. Motion carried 3-0 q Consideration and action on Resolution #2008-02 Establishing the Town of Brooklyn Town Hall at N5988 County Road A, Green Lake, WI as the official polling place for all wards in the Town of Brooklyn. M/S McConnell/Wuest to approve Resolution 2008-02 Discussion – none Roll Call: Wuest, Yes; McConnell, Yes; Rouse, Yes. Motion carried 3-0 q Consideration and action on assessor’s Agreement with Elizabeth Rowley for 2-year term. Rouse, was concerned why it wasn’t an independent contractor. M/S McConnell/Rouse, to approve the Assessor contract for 2008-2009. Discussion – none – Roll call: Wuest, Yes; McConnell, Yes; Rouse, Yes. Motion carried 3-0. q Consideration and action on 2% room tax increase – Susan McConnell – Received request for 2% increase in room tax. Would make request for the budget of the Green Lake Chamber. Table to February for discussion. Wuest – read State Stat. 1959. Code of ethics for government officials Par 1 (a). He felt that this is a conflict with Susan bringing this 2% increase forth as she is an employee of Communities of Green Lake. Susan felt that she would not vote on it. She would like to make mention that we received the request from the Green Lake Chamber of Commerce. She would like to bring it to the table for discussion. M/S Rouse/Wuest, to table to February meeting. Discussion: LaMire – the town gets copies of the expenditures 2 times a year. Rouse will report on it. Motion carried 3-0 q Next Board meeting February 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. q Adjourn M/S Rouse/McConnell to adjourn. Motion carried 3-0 Requests from persons with disabilities that need assistance to participate in this meeting or hearing should be made to the town office at 294-6600 with as much advance notice as possible.
