TOWN OF BROOKLYN Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting June 14, 2005 - 7:00 P.M. W1208 State Road 23-49 ---- Green Lake, WI Email: broklyn@dotnet.com Web: www.tn.brooklyn.wi.gov Minutes - Call Meeting to order by Mike Wuest at 7:00 p.m. -Pledge of Allegiance said by all in attendance - Approve Minutes of May 10, 2005 meeting M/s Ron Benson/Susan McConnell; Motion carried 3-0 - Financial - Treasurer o Monthly report. M/S Ron Benson/Susan McConnell to accept as presented; Motion carried 3-0 o Approval of checks issued from May 11, 2005 - June 13, 2005; Checks 7988 - 8057 for $31,730.77 M/S Ron Benson/Susan McConnell; Motion carried. - Library - Report on library activities - Rick Krueger - Very busy. There is something every morning for the children and adult movies every Tuesday evenings. Can't advertise the movies due to the contract. The Town of Brooklyn is the only town in the county that supports the library. - Susan McConnell indicated that she had heard that at the County Board meeting. - Building Inspector. Report on any building permits issued. - Not present (Arrived later) Issued 5 permits. - Fire Commission - Orlo Bierman - has not attended a meeting yet. He understands that there has been a communication problem with the First Responders and Fire Department. o Comments - Ron Benson - He has a problem with the actions of the 2 groups. - Supervisors: o Ron Benson - Plan Commission - No action of the Plan Commission Recycle Center - Large open dump was a success. Filled two times. About $160 a dump. We are open on Mondays and Saturday morning, through summer. Question was if we should have an open top there all summer. Mike Wuest: he has bid on fixing the culvert in the recycling center blacktop. Bid was $1980.00 Will be put on agenda for the June 29th meeting - Susan McConnell o Cell phone report - She has 5 bids - Audio plus in Ripon is the best offer. $99.00 a month plus $15.00 a line per phone. Will discuss at the June 29th meeting further. o Blank form for building inspector to have homeowner fill out for renewal of building permit - Started a form letter for people that have taken out building permits. - Chairman o Road projects in process or waiting for quotes -1) Irving Park - Land Conservation and Sanitary District would like to put a catch basin at the bottom of the culvert. Land Conservation indicated that they would not disrupt the ditch. If Sanitary District comes on board the two would pick up 70% of the costs. They are waiting for Mrs. Williams' daughter to come home for summer. 20 St. Marie Road - Slope is the problem. Land Conservation will give the netting, mesh and seed on the entire slope and we would pay for the excavation. 3) Northwest road - to remove dead tree - received a bid by Gordon Smith. Half of it has leaves and half is dead. Will leave until fall. $700. To drop it and remove it. 4) Spaulding Hill - culvert - replacing the culvert and driveway and doing 2 - 50 foot steps down to the west. $3500 from GL County Highway, Dept. 75 to 80 yards of rock. Will be on agenda for next month. 5) Brooklyn G is done - patched part of road that was breaking up. Town employees did the shouldering. o DNR Report on permit fees - Land disturbance permit. If you are disturbing 1 acre or more you must fill out a "Notice of Intent". Residents can get the form from Chairman Wuest or Land Conservation at the Courthouse. The permit and fee gets mailed directly to DNR. o Update on City and Town talks - Mayor Parise and he have been talking about meeting next month. Talking about the Street agreement and some other items. Date is set for July 18, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. o Dog License Fee Monies - Mike Wuest recommends that we donate $500.00 to the GL Area Animal Shelter. M/S Ron Benson/Susan McConnell. Motion carried 3-0 - Attorney o Update on Fire Dept/First Responder Agreement with City of Green Lake - He has a draft together, after consolation with Clerk and Chairman, he decided not to present at this time. o Update Robinhood Estates Road Issue with Scott's Construction - He gave check to chairman for the road issue. Issue is closed with the payment. - Old Business Town of Brooklyn Minutes - June 14, 2005 Minutes - Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting - Page 2 o Purchase laptop computer - Dell is about $1300. Called Staples - Varatec for $900. 12Ó screen DVD and CD burner, XP, Windows, Microsoft Works. Tom Licking is a consultant for computers who lives in the Town. Or Deb Sweeney could give us information or ACC Computers in Ripon has a resident in the Town of Brooklyn - Alex Cohen. Ron Benson offered to work on it for June 29, 2005 meeting. - New Business o Resolution 2005-2 Budget Resolution - Clerk explained reasoning M/S by Ron Benson/Susan McConnell to approve the transfer of funds. Roll Call Vote: Mike Wuest, Yes; Susan McConnell, Yes; Ron Benson, Yes; Motion carried 3-0 - Public Comments - Sydney Rouse - 1) Wants to know if the Fire Commission is responsible to anyone. Mike Wuest explained we and the City of Green Lake, each appoint 3 members to the Commission. 2) Is there a limit on how long you can leave a dumpster on a property. Mike Wuest - will look into the problem Orlo Bieman - Why are you having a special meeting for the Land/ Subdivision Ordinance. Mike West - we also have to pass Liquor license before July 1st. Attorney Wertsch - Town of Wolf is having a celebration. They have a new town hall approximately $325,000. - Next Town Board Meeting - June 29, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. and regular town board meeting. July 12, 2005. 6:55 p.m. Board of Review re-convenes; Town Board meets at 7:00 p.m. - Adjournment. M/S Susan McConnell / Ron. Benson to adjourn at 8:45 P.M.
